Carol Stevens

My work explores the relationship of the real world to the viscosity of paint as applied in like form. The brush strokes and the texture of the paint transform imagery of life. I enjoy the relationship of one color to another, as well as the depth created when strokes are layered and built onto the support. The direction of the strokes and application create a sense of movement on the 2 dimensional surface. My approach is like cooking, as I stand back and view the work, I ponder how to spice it up. I love to use an array of painting materials, not being married to any one in particular. My palette is a cornucopia of food for the eyes. Bon appétit!
