Emily Newman is a self taught, local artist who creates heavily textured oil on canvas paintings. The process involves a technique using multiple layers of oil and Impasto. She uses a variety of palette knives and brushes to apply the medium to the canvas. Her subject matter consists of landscapes, blossoms, appalachian songbirds, Nashville skylines, and recently turn of the century barns and chapels. When the palette is dry Emily enjoys yoga, meditation and quality time with her family.
